The few radio commentaors I heard talking about the comptrolers race -- and one candidate -- were careful to pronounce the "M" and "P" in that word.

However, the dictionaries i consulted -- including a library dictionary copyright 1993 -- say it is pronounced "controller."

It is pronounced as you say it is, but, on a race where, even now... (0.00 / 0)
most people don't know what it DOES, why are you obsessing with how it's pronounced?

And, nothing against Frank, but, is this FP material?

I know what it does! (0.00 / 0)
Of course, how many of you had a class in college cancelled one day because your professor was asking to be slated for Lt. Governor that afternoon, only to have him be slated (and then win) as State Comptroller?

It happenned to me back in the fall of 1975, when I was finishing my undergraduate work at Northwestern.  The professor was Michael Bakalis, who served a two-year term as Comptroller beofre losing the governor's race to Jim thompson in 1978.
